How to conduct Beethoven's Fifth

Peter has just released the first part of a two-part video entitled 'How to conduct Beethoven Symphony No.5'. In advance of his masterclass weekend 7-9 September 2018 (see the Courses page for details) he looks into this famous opening and analysing what Beethoven wrote from the point of view of a conductor.  How fast should it go?  How long should those famous paused be?  The second part of the video will take these thoughts into how to actually wield a baton to conduct this music with an orchestra, and asks the further question: why is this piece such a conductors' graveyard?!?

The video is on the Vidoes page (www.peterfender.co.uk/media/video)
