St John Passion: 18 March

On 18 March 2018 Peter will be conducting the great St John Passion by JS Bach, in the perfect setting of St Paul's Church in Covent Garden, London.  This Passion setting reflects the wide range of emotions in the original gospel text.  There is the power of the chorus singing as the crowd which calls for the execution of Jesus, there are moments of gentle reflection in some of the arias sung by soloists,  plus Bach's tried and tested way of telling much of the story through the Evangelist - a lone tenor, on whom so much of the story relies for its delivery. Whatever your religious conviction this is a highly moving piece with Bach's compositional skills stretched to their (brilliant) utmost!
