Sicily 2016

A wonderful Sicilian week of great music making, sun, sea, sand, food, socialising ... the list could go on and on!  Peter's 3rd orchestra course based in Scicli (south-eastern Sicily) has just completed.  It was wonderful to see lots of faces from last year but also to meet a good number of new people.  What was different this year was that there was a larger non-London congigent - word is getting around!  We played a fabulous outdoor concert in an amphitheatre in Sampieri (with the sea in the backgroung) to a crowd of perhaps 500 people (there were more everytime I looked!).  I know of a number of Sicilians who travelled a fair way to come to the concert - a real vote of confidence in and of itself - and they certainly showed they had enjoyed it by the rapturous applause at the end.  Here's to the 4th course ... with quite likely two concerts (one at a larger outdoor theatre and one partly in conjunction with the Scicli town wind band!).
