NB2: If you would like to attend but can't do so, please sign up as normal and send a message to request a copy of the recording, which will be available a few days after each session.

NB3: Online content to complement recordings (pictures, musical examples etc) is available here

Beethoven's music is the cornerstone of a conductor's repertoire, and what could be more appropriate in this his 250th anniversary year than to apply ourselves to the understanding of his music.  Moving on from there we will work on two of Mahler's wonderful early symphonies.  We will look in detail at the practice of conducting these great works.  Mixed in are some very exciting sessions, where establised professional orchestral musicians from London, UK, will talk about what conductors need to understand about their instrument and their orchestral section.  In all sessions there will be the opportunity to ask questions.

No preparation in advance in essential, but you will get more out of it if you can do some.  For the work-specific sessions doing some prior listening and/or score study would be useful.

Any 3 sessions cost just £40, an individual session is £15.  Use the PayPal button below to make your choice and pay the relevant amount (if you chose 'Any 3' I will send you an email to check exactly which ones you want to attend). You don't need a PayPal account to do this. After signing up you will receive an email with a link to the Zoom online meeting (check your Junk mailbox if necessary). You just need to click that link and follow any instructions. Any other technical things will be explained at the start of each session.

For the sessions on a particular piece please have a score to hand.

I look forward to seeing you!

NB: On Tuesday evenings I also run sessions of a more general musical nature, not specifically about conducting. Take the opportunity to learn more about repertoire new and old!  Details here:

If you've not used Zoom before click the link 5/10 minutes before the session start time as your computer (or tablet or phone) will need a little time to install the software to enable you to join (follow the prompts that you get to effect that installation).  Finally you will receive the message 'Please wait, the meeting host will let you in soon'. Please note that you don't need to sign up for a Zoom account.
